Welcome back to Najla Qamber Designs! We’re all about bringing your vision to life one pixel at a time. Some of our authors we’ve been lucky to work with over multiple series. Today we wanted to highlight another amazing author we’ve worked with, Whitney G. Whitney is a seasoned romance author and we love helping her bring her books to life. Keep reading for a word from the designer and author, plus Whitney’s top three covers to date.
A Word from the Designer
Working with Whitney has always been so much fun! After working together for years, I’ve managed to remember all her likes and dislikes. I also make sure I create covers that she would love as well as her audience. When we make covers together, she has the best simple ideas ever and lets me run wild with it. Her mock-ups are always great inspirations too. 😉 I don’t think I would have gone as far as I have without her. Thanks for all you do for us, Whitney!
Then VS. Now
Design trends are ever-shifting. We make it our job to constantly research and pay attention to current and emerging trends. As we’ve covered and recovered several of Whitney’s books, we thought we’d share a few great examples below. Check out the difference between editions:
Whitney does a fantastic job of branding her multiple series. If you’ll notice, every series has its own defined look, from color schemes, models and typography (font). This helps your reader recognize what genre your book is in, while hopefully catching the eye of future fans. Check out these fabulous covers below. Which are your favorites? We’ll tell you ours if you do!
A Word from the Author
Working with Najla has been an absolute dream come true! I always look forward to our brainstorming sessions with sky-high anticipation. We’ve been working together since 2014 when she designed the cover for my breakout book—Reasonable Doubt #1. Since then, she’s designed all of my standalones, crafted the brand for all of my series, and helped me to find fresh, new concepts for all of my upcoming works. As the ultimate professional, she’s the most creative person I know, and I look forward to working with her for my next hundred covers!
When it comes to my favorite covers, it’s hard to pick a top three because I truly love all of them, but if I had to, I’d go with the following:
1. Sincerely, Carter— If there was ever a cover that made me fall deeper in love with the awesomeness that is Najla Qamber, it’s this one. This cover fit the friends to lovers romance perfectly, and she nailed the ‘hint of letter writing background’ concept on the first mockup. IT’S PERFECT.
2. Naughty Boss— Seriously blew me away with this one. At the time, most of my covers were blue, and although I was like, “Soooo can we try blue again?” she suggested a bright pink and a plain white background (we typically did full-image backgrounds in those days) and I fell in love at first sight.
3. On a Tuesday— She understood my vision immediately and after putting her own spin on it, it came out beautifully. (And hey, having a sexy model didn’t hurt) 🙂
